The Liebster Award | Tag

The new year has not exactly gotten off to a good start here in the UK however, my year of blogging has! A few weeks ago I was tagged as part of the Liebster award by the lovely Pilar at The Bookworm Shelf. This is a tag of sorts that is designed to spread the love within the online blogger community by giving each other questions to answer. A huge thank you for the nomination and the tag. It is the first time I’ve ever done something like this so it feels great to have the opportunity. The rules are pretty simple. All I have to do is answer the eleven questions that were asked by Pilar and then nominate eleven bloggers to answer my own eleven questions. So now we’ve got that out the way, to the questions….

  1. Favourite Ship?

This is such a difficult question. There are so many different ships that I love! There are some classics like Ron and Hermione, Harry and Ginny. Then there are the young adult series with Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky which would definitely be up there or adult romance series like The Kiss Quotient with ships that I love. I really don’t have one ultimate pairing so, those few couples can be my answer for this one.

2. Favourite blog post you’ve ever written?

I don’t have one particular blogpost but I am pretty proud of my Blogmas series that I did throughout December. I posted every single day in the run up to Christmas and had so much fun doing it! I also really enjoyed talking about it with you guys too as my blog received a higher level of engagement throughout the month than usual. I’m so glad that you enjoyed the series as much as I did so thank you for all the likes and comments! If you missed out, you can check them out HERE. Posting every day for almost a full month feels like a real achievement.

3. Most disappointing book you’ve read this year?

I’m going to answer this question from the perspective of last year because I’ve only read one book so far in 2021. Okay, I didn’t like that book but, it has no competition, so it seems a little harsh to judge it already. I am going to go with The Hating Game by Sally Throne which sounded like my perfect book. I love hate to love romance and the fact that it was an office romance made me think I would like it even more. I loved the film Set Up which has a similar premise. But alas, I hated it. The relationship was just not for me, sadly.

4. The longest book you have read?

I’m sure you’ve all heard me talk about this one before but, I read The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt in 2020 which is over 800 pages and definitely the longest I have read so far. That was another major achievement for me last year! I loved the novel too.

5. Any series you’re currently watching or movies that you saw recently?

Okay so, I’m actually writing this blog post whilst watching Guardians of the Galaxy. Me and my boyfriend are attempting to watch the entirety of the Marvel universe in release order and this is the film we are up to. It has been slow going with the pandemic as we actually started it in July. Hopefully we’ll be able to see each other enough to finish in 2021. In terms of TV shows, I am currently watched How to Get Away With Murder which is so dark and so engaging. I am loving every minute of it. These are some seriously morally grey characters but I’m dying to see how their stories end. Season 3 out of 6 and already so much action.

6. If you were a god/goddess of any one thing, what would it be?

I’d definitely be the goddess of chocolate. I’m such a chocaholic. Specifically, I would have to say Galaxy as it is basically what I am known for. Eating galaxy and custard creams are basically part of my personality at this point. I’d take being the goddess of tea too, I’m a typical Yorkshire girl who would never say no to a cup of tea.

7. What is one of your biggest pet peeves?

This one may seem a little harsh but at the minute, all I seem to do is repeat myself. Everyone doesn’t understand what I am saying or just doesn’t listen the first time and it has been really getting on my nerves. I admit, probably more of a me problem than I them problem but……hey ho.

8. Name three things you love doing. Why do you love them?

This is really difficult to avoid the obvious answers of reading and writing, assuming that blogging also comes under writing. But, I am really loving walking and cycling at the minute. There is not much else to do with everything going on but, exploring my university city has been a massive highlight of this time, if I was to take something good away from it. I’ve also really been enjoying doing indoor workouts. Gorka Marquez from Strictly Come Dancing did Instagram live workouts throughout the second lockdown in the UK and those really helped me get through. I’ve also done Joe Wicks, PopSugar Fitness and many others. I wouldn’t say I’m a hardcore exercise person or anything but, to keep active and help my mood, these have been great.

9. A witch, a siren & a fairy godmother are all in need of an apprentice. Who do you chose to go with?

This so so hard! If it was just fairy, I would pick that….the godmother part puts me of ahah! I have to say witch. My childhood (and current) dream of Hogwarts and a Harry Potter-esque life would be fulfilled and I would be thrilled. Yes, please.

10. If you could have anything right now, what would you ask for?

Goodbye, Coronavirus, thank you very much. On a more personal level though, I’d ask for a dog. I love dogs. I want one. ASAP. I’d take a Spaniel, German Shephard, Australian Sheep Dog, Golden Retriever, Newfoundland, Beagle……basically a lot of breeds, if anyone is offering.

11. Tell me a weird/fun fact about you.

This is not very fun or weird at all really but…..I wear glasses? That is very boring but apparently I’m a very boring person because I’ve got nothing, ahaha! I don’t wear them very often, only for the important things like watching tv…. If you’re looking for weird food habits, coleslaw and pizza – and I mean piled on top of the pizza, not just on the side. You really have to go to town. I think that is pretty weird. Anyone but a northern person in the UK would also say chips and gravy is weird but….it’s not, it is divine.

Those are all the questions that I was asked to answer. Do check out The Bookworm Shelf for some more amazing posts and tags! Now, it is my turn to ask eleven questions but, instead of tagging eleven different bloggers – everyone is welcome to answer them! Either publish your own post and let me know so I can see them or, pick one of the following questions and comment your answer down below!

Here are my questions:

  1. Favourite childhood book/story?
  2. Are you a cat person or a dog person?
  3. A book that made you have an emotional reaction? (e.g. throw it on the floor….cry….shout….gasp)
  4. Where is the best place you have visited?
  5. What is the worst book you have ever read and why?
  6. Narnia. Hogwarts. North Pole. You can only go to one. Which would you pick?
  7. What are your New Years Resolutions?
  8. How many books do you want to read in 2021?
  9. Marvel or DC? (wonder what inspired that one…..)
  10. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would you pick?
  11. If you could meet any one character, who would you pick and why?

Phew, that was quite difficult. Now, I’m going to go back to giving the film my full attention and drink my Gin and Lemonade.

I hope you’re all managing to stay positive! Don’t forget to answer a question in the comments below.

Amie x
